Intense Pulsed Light, or IPL is a non-invasive photofacial laser treatment that can address many skin concerns associated with aging like uneven skin tone and brown spots, giving you smoother skin, a more even skin tone and a brighter outlook on life.
What is IPL?
IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light is a safe, popular, and effective laser treatment developed to reverse signs of aging, liver spots, sun damage, hyperpigmentation wrinkles, and stretch marks. IPL is also known as photorejuvenation or photofacial. Treatments are performed at our med spa to treat concerns on the face, neck, or even chest.
It works by focusing a broad spectrum of light to pigment beneath the surface of the skin. The pigment absorbs the IPL energy, is destroyed, and slowly rises to the surface and sloughs off, leaving you with brighter, clearer and more even skin tone. IPL Photofacial in Spring TX also stimulates collagen by penetrating and eliminating the old structures beneath the skin, forcing the body to produce new collagen.
How much does IPL cost?
Pricing for IPL in Spring TX is determined by the number of treatments required and area to be treated. In order to give you a precise cost, we will need to discuss your treatment goals and evaluate the area you want to address. As a general rule, the starting price is $100, but we will give you an exact quote during your consultation.

What can I expect during my IPL treatment?
IPL is similar to a laser treatment. IPL releases light of many different wavelengths while a laser focuses on one wavelength of light at your skin, making the light from IPL is more broad than a laser.
IPL penetrates down to the second layer of your skin without damaging the top layer. Pigment cells in your skin absorb the light energy, and convert into heat. The heat destroys unwanted pigment and gets rid of your concerns.
IPL is not painful, though you may experience some discomfort. You will feel heat and a sensation often described as a rubber band snapping. When the session is complete, the treated area may appear darker in color for a time, but this is temporary. To see our IPL facial before and after photos, visit our Gallery.
What issues can IPL address?
IPL can be used to treat various issues:
- Enlarged pores
- Uneven skin tone/discoloration
- Age spots, brown spots, liver spots
- Broken blood vessels
- Lack of collagen
- Fine lines and wrinkles
What is recovery like for IPL?
After treatment your skin may look and feel like a sunburn and this can last for several days. The dark spots on your skin will gradually fade and you will see the final results in about three weeks. If several treatments are recommended, they can be done approximately one month apart.
We recommend that for 2 weeks after your session you avoid direct sunlight on your IPL laser treatment area, tanning beds, waxing, and chemical peels.
